Hathigaon A Sanctuary of Compassion

Nestled in the vibrant desert landscapes of Jaipur, Hathigaon—meaning Elephant Village—is more than a destination; it’s a compassionate initiative redefining wildlife tourism. Established in 2015 through a collaboration between the Rajasthan Forest Department, Jaipur Development Authority, and Rajasthan Tourism, Hathigaon serves as a sustainable sanctuary for elephants rescued from exploitative industries such as logging, circuses, and unethical tourism. Spanning 30.5 hectares, the village mirrors a natural habitat where elephants can heal and thrive while their mahouts receive support, preserving centuries-old traditions. At its heart, Hathigaon is a movement—to rehabilitate, educate, and inspire cruelty-free wildlife experiences rooted in cultural respect and conservation.

OUR STORY

The Hathi Gaon Jaipur

Bathing & Scrubbing

HATHI GAON JAIPUR

BATHING AND SCRUBBING

Assist in bathing the elephants, gently scrubbing their thick skin using natural materials like coconut husks and river stones. Watch them revel in the cool water, playfully spraying it with their trunks—a joyful ritual that not only ensures their hygiene and comfort but also deepens the bond between humans and these gentle giants. Expect to get soaked in the splash zone, as trunk showers are their favorite mischief! Guides ensure safety throughout the session, maintaining a respectful 10-foot distance during high-energy splashing. (Duration: Approx. 1 hour).
